San Donato Milanese, 22 dicember 2011 – Following today’s meeting, the Board of Directors of Snam Trasporto has appointed Lorenzo Bini Smaghi as Chairman and Francesco Iovane as Chief Executive Officer, with effect from 1 January 2012. Snam Trasporto is the Snam SpA controlled company to which the gas transmission, dispatching, remote control and metering business has been transferred.

Starting from 1 January 2012, Snam Trasporto will be renamed Snam Rete Gas, taking into account the well known brand which identifies the leading operator in the gas transport business in Italy, both in the specific sector and in the market in general.

A graduate in Economics, Lorenzo Bini Smaghi also obtained an MA and a PhD in the same field.

Francesco Iovane, an engineer, is currently Managing Director, Operations, of Snam.
